    Jeanne Hughes

    60 second life story

I have been married to Phil for over 40 years. We have lived in a Shropshire village near Ellesmere for 13 years. We have 2 daughters (1 still at home); 2 grandchildren who live near Llangollen with their parents; and a very spoilt Labrador called Lucy.
I retired after 23 years as a local government accountant, but decided I wasn’t ready to give up work altogether. I joined the rest of the team at Activ4 in September 2010; and have enjoyed every moment.

What do you bring to the team?

I think the rest of the team would sum that up in one word ‘nagging’. Well, I am the old woman of the office; and someone has to keep them under control.

What are you most passionate about professionally?

What can I say? I’m an accountant; and I love to reconcile figures. I can spend hours absorbed in spreadsheets and not even notice what’s going on around me; to the amusement of my colleagues.

    Guilty Pleasure?

I’m not sure if this counts as a guilty pleasure, but I love travel. How lucky am I working with figures for a tour operator?

Where would we find you on a Sunday morning?

Walking Lucy; in church; or in the kitchen; usually all 3 at different times during the course of the morning.

    Favourite quote…

I’ve cheated & gone for, 2 because I couldn’t decide; they’re both from Oscar Wilde. ‘I can resist everything except temptation.’ ‘A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.’

    Last book read…

Citadel by Kate Mosse (actually I’m still in the middle of reading it)

    Happiest when…

spending time with my family, especially our grandchildren, Niall and Mia.

    iTunes most played…

What are iTunes when they’re at home? It was vinyl in my day! We still have some Jimi Hendrix albums, but nothing to play them on now.

You’ll recognise me as the one who…

Keeps looking enviously at all the tempting destinations on offer.
