Our Food Technology trip is based in the Naples and Sorrento region of southern Italy — a globally renowned area famous for its historic cuisine, fertile volcanic land, and rich cultural traditions. Students will explore ancient Pompeii, the bustling streets of Naples (the birthplace of pizza), scenic Sorrento, and the lush countryside of Paestum, home to world-class mozzarella production. This region provides the perfect living classroom for studying food, science, and culture against the backdrop of Italy’s stunning coastline and ancient history.
Sample Itinerary for Naples Food Technology Trips
Day 1: Arrival at Naples Airport (D)
Arrive at Naples Airport, where you will be welcomed by your private driver for a smooth transfer to your hotel in the beautiful Sorrento area. If time allows, enjoy a relaxing walk around the local town. In the evening, savour your first taste of Italy with a group dinner at the hotel or a local restaurant.
Overnight stay in the Sorrento area.
Day 2: Ancient Pompeii and Naples Food Tour (B, D)
After breakfast, set off for an unforgettable journey into history with a guided tour of Pompeii, the ancient Roman city frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Walk through its remarkably preserved streets, homes, and public spaces.
Next, head to vibrant Naples for a food-focused walking tour. Sample traditional Neapolitan street foods such as Pizza Portafoglio, Supplì, and Frittatina di Pasta. End the day with a hands-on pizza-making class at a local pizzeria, followed by a delicious dinner featuring your own creations.

Day 3: Olive Oil, Mozzarella, and Gelato (B, D)
After breakfast, travel to the Paestum area, famous for its production of Mozzarella di Bufala. Visit a working farm, learn about the mozzarella-making process, and enjoy a tasting of the freshest cheese.
Then head to a traditional farm in the Sorrento countryside to discover the art of producing extra virgin olive oil. Explore the groves and taste a selection of oils and local products.
In the afternoon, return to Sorrento for free time to explore the charming streets and shops. Top off the day with a gelato-making demonstration at an authentic Italian gelateria, complete with tastings!

Day 4: Sorrento Visit and Departure (B)
Enjoy your final Italian breakfast before checking out of your hotel. If time allows, take a short guided walk through the historic centre of Sorrento, visiting local artisan shops and markets where students can see (and sample) traditional sweets like delizia al limone and Sorrento lemon cookies.
After some free time for last-minute shopping and sightseeing, transfer to Naples Airport for your flight home.
