What struck us immediately about the Bella Italia Village was the sheer space that it offered groups enjoying Italian school sports tours. Set in over 60 hectares of pine forest with over a kilometre of private beach there is plenty of room for groups to relax in their own secure setting. The resort is even large enough to have its very own water park!
So what about the sport? Well the facilities are enough to entice international sports teams. An Olympic pool, a gymnastic centre, numerous football pitches, basketball, netball, tennis and a seriously impressive indoor stadium that wouldn’t look out of place in an American university.
Just a pleasant stroll down the promenade is the upscale resort of Sabbiadoro which is a popular spot for Italians to enjoy the holiday atmosphere in local restaurants and bars.
There is a two kilometre pedestrian area in the heart of the resort with designer shops and cafes and nestling amongst them is a great little amusement arcade which can keep kids occupied for ages.
The Lignano peninsula also boasts another water park and Luna Park which is a small theme park providing a perfect location for teenagers to let off steam, that’s if all the sport hasn’t finished them off!
