February Half Term Review with Ellie: Andorra ski trip 2026

February half term saw members of the Activ4 office team travel out to one of our most popular ski destinations — Andorra — to experience first-hand what makes this programme such a success for schools year after year.

We were delighted to welcome five school groups across two hotels, all spending the week developing their skiing skills, enjoying structured evening activities, building friendships and creating unforgettable memories together.

A Week of Progress on the Slopes

One of the most rewarding aspects of the week was witnessing the incredible progress made by individual students — particularly those who had never skied before.

Over just a few days, beginners were confidently navigating blue runs, developing technique and building resilience in what was, for many, a completely new environment.

Personal growth is at the heart of every Activ4 ski trip. Learning a new skill, stepping outside comfort zones and gaining independence in an international setting all contribute to lasting confidence beyond the slopes.

The Grandvalira Advantage

Our groups skied in Grandvalira, the largest ski area in the Pyrenees, offering exceptional infrastructure for school groups.

With gondolas located just minutes from our hotels, logistics are seamless — maximising slope time and minimising unnecessary travel.

Grandvalira offers:

  • Excellent beginner zones with dedicated learning areas
  • Progressive terrain to support structured skill development
  • Challenging advanced slopes for experienced skiers
  • Modern lift systems and high-quality facilities

Students are overseen by friendly, professional instructors who quickly build rapport and ensure everyone feels safe, supported and encouraged throughout the week.

Groups enjoy hot lunches right on the mountain, refuelling after morning sessions and preparing for the afternoon’s skiing. Secure slope-side lockers allow equipment to be stored overnight — removing the hassle of transporting skis and boots each day.

Comfortable, Secure & School-Focused Accommodation

Off the slopes, our partner hotels provide:

  • Comfortable, secure group accommodation
  • Varied and nutritious evening meals
  • Communal spaces for relaxation and structured evening activities

In-house quizzes and bingo nights offer valuable downtime, while organised après-ski options such as bowling or ice skating add variety to the programme.

Groups also visit Andorra la Vella for an evening in town — often combining retail time with a well-earned pizza night at a local restaurant.

More Than a Ski Trip

As we waved off coaches at the end of the week — filled with happy (albeit tired!) faces — it was clear that the impact extended far beyond skiing ability.

Students left with:

  • Greater confidence
  • Stronger peer relationships
  • Increased independence
  • A sense of achievement
  • Memories that will last long after the snow melts

Andorra truly offers the full package for schools — an eclectic blend of cultures set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Pyrenees.

The Benefit of Having Activ4 On Location

Having members of our core Activ4 team in resort is invaluable.

For group leaders, it means reassurance — knowing someone is on hand to support you should any issues arise. For new schools considering booking, it provides confidence that the team designing and delivering your trip has direct, first-hand experience of the destination.

We pride ourselves on maintaining high standards in safety, organisation and educational value — and being present in resort allows us to continually strengthen relationships with our schools and partners.
