Summer term 2018 has seen the first of our tours run to Lignano Sabbiadoro, an incredible location right on the edge of the Adriatic Sea, just over an hour from the picturesque canal city of Venice.

The newest edition to our team, Kathy, our Regional Sales Manager, was on hand to help with some of our first groups and learn more about our top choice for an Italy school sports tour.

We have been incredibly excited to begin our relationship with Bella Italia EFA sports Village, our partner in the Veneto region. Their incredible range of sports facilities, combined with its own private stretch of golden sandy beach, makes this the ideal destination for an Italy school sports tour. An Olympic pool, gym, multiple football pitches, netball, tennis and an incredible basketball stadium will mean that your team feel like pros from the minute they start training.

Combine all the above facilities with fantastic local fixtures for football and rugby and you have all the ingredients which will keep every student engaged and excited! The schools we have had there so far have enjoyed every second of these fantastic facilities. Teachers who have visited the site had the following to say:

“Bella Italia was the perfect location for my football and netball students to visit on our annual school trip. It offered security for the teachers, and freedom for the students. The sports facilities were second to none, and we loved not having to get coaches each day!”

With a secure barrier system around the entire site – a site large enough to include eight hotels, its own waterpark, an outdoor pool, ice cream café and evening outdoor disco area for kids – teachers can rest in the knowledge that nobody is getting into the site without being a resident themselves. This means relaxed teachers and happier students!

Just a short walk from the site itself is the family-friendly, chic town of Lignano Sabbiadoro – a holiday destination for the Italians themselves. A huge pedestrian area complete with shops, cafés and an amusement arcade means that an evening out can give you a real ‘Café Culture’ experience while also keeping the students entertained.

We asked Kathy what she liked most about the site, and she had the following to report:

“Bella Italia Village and the surrounding area is an excellent introduction to Italian style and way of life. A relaxed setting with a focus on feeling good, Bella Italia Village has more space and facilities than you could dream of for an Italy school sports tour!

A great choice of food each night means that even the fussiest of children will find something to eat – and we are talking 3 courses as is the Italian way at both lunch and dinner. It’s lucky they do so much running during their stay around as nobody once skipped with traditional Italian Gelato on the menu!

I am a complete beach worshipper and couldn’t believe that I was actually in Italy when I saw the beach – crystal-clear water, soft, warm sand and blue skies. It was incredible – and even better when I got the chance to get out in the water with one of our schools to try Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Sailing! The kids loved the watersports – as did the big kids which included me and the teachers!

While on site, I also got the chance to see a local fixture for some of the football teams. A good-natured group joined our team on site and enjoyed making the most of the full size pitch out in the sun.

All in all, I would say that Lignano Sabbiadoro was the perfect location for an Italy School Sports trip. Easy access from Venice and great excursion options, on-site entertainment and world-class facilities ensure a jam-packed tour for your students, but the chance to relax for you!”
