Morzine and the Portes du Soleil one of the world’s major ski resorts
Morzine ski resort is a picturesque old-style savoyard town with an unspoilt centre, plenty of character and excellent skiing on its doorstep. It constitutes one of the world’s major ski centres
and a fantastic place to enjoy fun in the mountains. It is located halfway between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, and it is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area. It’s the ideal place in which to discover two countries, two cultures! The Portes du Soleil region is immense and its 650km of pistes caters for every type of skier and boarder from the outright novice to those guys who chase after back country powder. It meanders between France and Switzerland and ensures that around every turn is an equally stunning view of this exceptionally beautiful Alpine paradise.
The local runs in Morzine and neighbouring Les Gets, offer lots of charming tree lined pistes which are largely geared towards the beginner and intermediate level skier or boarder which the majority of school groups appreciate.
As the lifts run up to 2470m Morzine and the Portes du Soleil lend themselves naturally to the school ski market because the long season covers right through from December to Easter every year.
The town of Morzine has grown with its popularity and there is an excellent array of shops restaurants and bars, along with shop and supermarkets that serve the ski market. Evening entertainment can include ice-skating, bowling, cinema and snowshoeing.
