February Half Term Skiing Only £650!
Skiing in Andorra
Andorra has changed and we like what they have done. For many years it was seen a less distinguished relative of the Alpine regions but after a €112 million facelift it’s not anymore! In fact it is the perfect destination for school ski trips.
Nestled in the Pyrenees between France and Spain, and taking influences from both, Andorra is in a privileged spot.
Despite its diminutive size, as far as the skiing in Andorra is concerned it packs a big punch. Grandvalira, which includes Soldeu and Pas de la Casa has over 200kms of piste across 112 lifts. And it is across these slopes that the huge investment can be felt with new chairlifts, gondolas and mountain restaurants.
So what is the skiing like?
The skiing in Andorra is another big reason why we feel Andorra has become an ideal destination for school ski trips. For beginners and less confident skiers, and boarders, there are long sweeping slopes with plenty of blue runs. The intermediate areas are extensive but are more of a challenge and of course there is plenty of room to keep thrill seeking experts amused. The split is;
- 15% Green
- 38% Blue
- 28% Red
- 19% Black
Five things you probably didn’t know about Andorra
- Andorra’s capital city, Andorra La Vella, is the highest capital city in Europe
- Andorra isn’t in the EU – Although it does use the Euro
- The population of Andorra would fit into Wembley Stadium
- Andorra is only the 6th smallest country in Europe
- People in Andorra have the 4th highest life expectancy in the world
What else…
Well, if you didn’t already know Andorra has tax free shopping…bonus! If you do get some free time to grab a moment to yourself there is the Caldea Spa which is well worth a visit and can iron out a few of the knots from a hard day on the slopes.
