We are pleased to say our first ski trip of the season was a massive success!
In the week before the Christmas break our first ski trip of the season travelled to Sierra Nevada in Spain, accompanied by our Operations Manager Dom.
Sierra Nevada provides one of the widest and most attractive ski domains in southern Europe.
The ski area is on the northwestern slopes of Veleta, the third highest peak in peninsular Spain and the most southerly ski resort of Europe. It boasts 131 pistes and the largest ski slope in Spain (1,200m).
The group stayed in Hotel Monachil, a traditional mountain-style hotel situated in the centre of the Monachil ski resort in Sierra Nevada, just 50 yards from the nearest ski lift. The hotel has a large buffet restaurant, Montblanc, where breakfast and dinner are served with views overlooking the mountain.
We spoke to our Operations Manager upon his return and asked him about his experience in Sierra Nevada.
“The hotel was amazing, really accommodated the children and all their dietary requirements. Great food both slope-side and in the hotel, a highlight for me was definitely some delicious Calamari rings.
I have never previously been skiing in Spain, so this was my first chance to experience Spanish skiing and I was really impressed. Sierra Nevada has a great range of piste that was perfect for our beginner students and those with more experience.
All the children seemed to really enjoy the trip, we held a pool tournament during one of the evenings and it was great to see all the children and staff getting involved and having fun with one another” – Dom Moore, Operations Manager
