At Activ4 School Tours, we believe that learning should extend far beyond the classroom walls, offering students opportunities to engage with history, culture, and humanity on a deeper level.

That’s why we’re thrilled to present our Krakow Historical Tour, a thoughtfully crafted educational trip that dives into one of the most impactful chapters of human history—the Holocaust and World War II. This is a journey that will leave students with a profound understanding of history and an unforgettable experience.

Kazimierz Krakow

Day 1: Arrival & Kazimierz – Exploring Krakow’s Jewish Quarter

Your adventure begins the moment you land in Krakow. After being warmly welcomed by your tour representative, you’ll be transferred to your hotel to settle in. Then, we’ll take you on a fascinating exploration of Kazimierz, also known as the “Krakow Jerusalem.” This historic Jewish Quarter is one of the best-preserved in Europe and offers an immersive glimpse into the rich Jewish culture that once thrived here. You’ll visit the Tempel Synagogue, walk through the 16th Century Cemetery, and see the Remuh Synagogue, all while wandering the atmospheric medieval streets.

But the highlight of your day will be a deeply moving meeting with a Holocaust survivor at the Galicia Museum. This is a rare and priceless opportunity for students to hear first-hand accounts of the atrocities of the Holocaust, offering a living connection to history that no textbook can provide.

You’ll end your day with a delicious dinner at one of Krakow’s finest city restaurants before heading back to the hotel for a well-deserved rest.

Day 2: The Sobering Lessons of Auschwitz & Birkenau

No trip to Krakow would be complete without a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the most infamous concentration and extermination camp of the Holocaust. This full-day tour will offer students a somber and eye-opening experience as they walk through the chilling remnants of this dark chapter in human history.

Your tour of Auschwitz I will include a visit to the prisoner blocks, where you’ll see the Wall of Death, the Death Block, and the last remaining gas chamber and crematorium. After lunch, you’ll move on to Auschwitz II – Birkenau, where you will witness the preserved prisoners’ barracks, the ruins of the gas chambers, and the haunting monument that commemorates the millions who lost their lives here. This will undoubtedly be one of the most powerful educational experiences of the trip, offering a poignant reflection on the atrocities of the past.

In the evening, we’ll return to Krakow for dinner at another charming local restaurant, where students can share their thoughts and reflect on the day’s heavy, yet essential, lessons.

Day 3: Krakow Ghetto & Schindler’s Factory

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll head out for a morning tour of Podgórze, the site of the former Krakow Ghetto, learning about life in Krakow during World War II. You’ll visit the Eagle Pharmacy and the memorial site that remembers the Jews of Krakow, including the “Empty Chairs” Memorial, a powerful artistic tribute to those who were exterminated.

Next, students will visit the former Plaszow Concentration Camp, before an afternoon tour of Oskar Schindler’s Factory. This museum chronicles the Nazi occupation of Krakow and the incredible story of Oskar Schindler, a man who saved over 1,000 Jews during the Holocaust. Students will get to engage with this history firsthand, walking the very floors where Schindler risked his life to save so many. The exhibition “Krakow under Nazi Occupation 1939-1945” is a must-see and a key part of the students’ historical education.

End your day with a final dinner at a local restaurant, celebrating the culture and resilience of Krakow.

Day 4: Departure – A Memorable Farewell

Your last morning in Krakow offers a bit of relaxation and exploration. Take some time to shop for souvenirs, enjoy Krakow’s vibrant atmosphere, and soak in the history one last time before your return to the UK.
