Austrian Ski Hotels: Camp Royal X…A Premier School Ski Hotel

We have some lovely Austrian ski hotels in and around Bad Kleinkirchheim.  But in the same way you never forget your first love, I am always drawn back to Camp Royal X. 

Why?  It’s uniqueness I guess…  It’s unlike any other Austrian ski hotel you will ever stay in.  The best time to arrive is actually after dark, then you get to experience what I did on your first morning.  Waking up and looking down the length of Lake Millstatt.  Whatever your age, you will not fail to be impressed by the view.  The lake is 12km long and surrounded by snow capped mountains.  You will get to know this view well because everywhere in the hotel makes the most of it; whether it be the bedrooms, the lovely restaurant or the indoor pool.  Indoor pool?  Yes of course and a sauna if you so wish.  How much?  Nothing, it’s included in the price, so swimming everyday after skiing if you like. 

Is Camp Royal X a sole occupancy hotel?

Camp Royal X is not a sole occupancy hotel. However, unlike other Austrian ski hotels each school group does have its own separate accommodation. The “cubes” contain very modern bedrooms (think 50″ flat screen TV’s and you are getting the idea) and a private chill out/ games room.  Access to each cube is controlled by electronic wrist band so only your group can get in!  Once the students are safely accommodated in there “cube” there is a great room for teachers to meet up and discuss the day’s events, large screen TV and a nice bar.  I never tire of enjoying the sight of teachers, often after a long journey, looking at each other over the dinner table on the first night, thinking WOW! Haven’t we done well here!
