There is a relaxed atmosphere; quiet roads and charming hotels. Make no mistake about it; this is a traditional Italian alpine village. The local people are friendly and welcoming to school ski groups and regularly receive ringing endorsements from party leaders taking school ski trips Italy.
School groups enjoy a great programme of local evening entertainment which includes skating, movies, pizza night, disco, and quiz night. If you would like to take your group swimming there is a fantastic indoor and outdoor (yes honestly!) municipal pool in Sestriere. Although if your group are really keen on swimming after a day’s skiing then you need to consider staying at the Villa Plinea hotel.
The Facts:
There are ski slopes in Pragelato but most groups have preferred to travel the 15 minutes up the valley road to Sestriere.
One of the main reasons that we chose Pragelato for school ski trips to Italy was its location and the 400km of spectacular pistes that make up the Milky Way, only without the crowds and the higher prices. Plus the sheer height of the Milky Way means great skiing conditions right through to the end of the season. So if you are thinking about Easter skiing then this is just the place.
Your coach will depart and travel overnight bound for Italy. After a short Channel crossing the spectacular journey through France is framed by alpine views and majestic scenery.
Arrive in Italy where you will be met by your Activ4 School Tours Representative at the Villa Plinia hotel in the village of Pragelato. The hotel is ideally located in the beautiful village of Pragelato, close to the lift for the slopes and only a short journey away from the cable car that connects the village to the ski resort of Sestriere.
Your group will start each day with breakfast at the hotel. Then set off on the short journey to the meeting point for ski school. Gianni and his National Ski School team will be waiting for you and ready to go! Your well earned lunch will be a hot meal at a restaurant. Return to your lessons and enjoy the rest of the day.
The Milky Way ski area is well known for its long hours of sunshine and fantastic range of skiing that caters for all abilities. With 600 runs and a top lift height at 2840m even the most advanced skiers will be kept busy this week. This evening you can get together for a movie at the hotel.
Head out to make the most of the snow. The slopes at Pragelato played host to the Winter Olympics in 2006 and the infrastructure shows the huge investment that went into the area. Combined with the traditional houses and excellent restaurants this really is a fabulous resort for a trip. Tonight you may opt for an evening ice skating!
Out for another great day on the slopes. Try challenging your instructor to a race; the practice could come in useful! As with all areas of Activ4 School Tours programmes, evening entertainments will be carefully planned for your group and you may wish to end today with a pizza night (optional extra).
Unfortunately all good things have to come to an end and today is your last day. However, you still have the opportunity to hit the slopes. After your ski presentation and saying your good-bye’s on the mountain it’s back to the hotel. After dinner board the coach, tired but happy and ready to sleep all the way back the UK.
After a short Channel crossing you are back in England for the remainder of the journey back to school. The tour officially ends here but with a trip this good we are sure that it will live long in the memory.

Pragelato is a small and intimate village that provides a sense of security and belonging. It winds down the valley road and along this there are shops, restaurants and bars conveniently located near the hotels.
And talking of hotels; another one of the attractions with bringing school groups out to Pragelato, was the consistent standard of the hotels in the village.

Nestled in the Val Chisone Valley this family run hotel offers everything you could need. All the rooms have private bathrooms; the restaurant offers traditional dishes like Piedmont. There is an indoor pool as well as that all important ski storage.

The hotel offers modern rooms with private facilities as well as a mini club offering video games and a mini cinema to relax after a day on the slopes. The restaurant is buffet style so you will definitely find something to enjoy.
